Background of the Study
Effective resource allocation is crucial to the success of healthcare organizations, as it impacts service delivery, operational efficiency, and patient outcomes. Public and private hospitals differ significantly in their organizational structures, funding models, and decision-making processes, which influence how they allocate resources. Public hospitals are typically government-funded and focus on providing affordable healthcare to a larger portion of the population, often facing constraints in terms of budget and resources (Alhassan & Asante, 2024). On the other hand, private hospitals tend to operate on a for-profit basis, with more flexibility in resource allocation but possibly higher costs for patients.
In Yobe State, both public and private hospitals play vital roles in delivering healthcare services, but they face different challenges in resource allocation. Public hospitals often struggle with inadequate funding, while private hospitals face competition and must manage their resources effectively to stay profitable. This study aims to compare the strategic resource allocation in public and private hospitals in Yobe State and evaluate how these strategies affect hospital performance and service delivery.
Statement of the Problem
Resource allocation remains a significant challenge for both public and private hospitals in Yobe State. Public hospitals, constrained by government budgets, often face difficulties in procuring necessary medical equipment and maintaining high-quality healthcare services. Private hospitals, while better funded, may struggle to allocate resources effectively without compromising patient care. A comparative analysis of resource allocation strategies could provide insights into how both types of hospitals can optimize their resources to improve healthcare delivery in the state (Bala & Umar, 2023).

Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study will focus on the comparison of resource allocation in public and private hospitals in Yobe State. Limitations include the potential for bias due to the differing operational frameworks of public and private hospitals, as well as the difficulty in obtaining comprehensive data from both sectors.
